Donyale Werle Design is a Brooklyn-based set, installation and garden design firm that focuses on sustainable practices. Additional regional theater credits include shows at The Geffen, La Jolla, Old Globe, Hartford Stage, Papermill Playhouse, Denver Center, and the Two River Theater.


Awards include a Tony, Obie, Lucille Lortel, Hewes Design Award and an Outer Critic’s Circle & Drama Desk nominations. Affiliations include: Co-chair for the Pre/Post Production Committee for the Broadway Green Alliance, and an organizer for USA Local 829, most notably helping create the first Collectively Bargained Agreement between USA Local 829 and the Off-Broadway League. Donyale speaks nationally & internationally on sustainable design practices for theater. She teaches Master Classes in this area and serves as a Keynote Speaker at several Universities in the US. This semester she is teaching graduate students Set 3 in NYU’s Tisch School for the Arts and Grad Drafting at Brooklyn College.


Donyale is proud owner of over 250 plants. Our firm is developing interior greenhouses, specialty furniture and lighting for plant display as well as plant design & styling services for interiors, exteriors & special events. Services include design, installation and maintenance packages. Donyale is currently working towards a Certificate of Horticulture from Brooklyn Botanic Garden, to be completed in early 2020.
